Born and raised in Africa, Darryl has a passion to see education make a real difference in the lives of people. Having served as a College Principal & a lecturer in South Africa and the USA, Darryl brings much experience and perspective to the Ed By Design team. He holds a BA degree from NWU, two Master's degrees (from SA and USA) and a PhD specializing in online education. He is married with three children and lives in Cape Town.

Dave Totman
At-Large Consultant
Dave is our most experienced consultant. He, along with his wife Doris, began work 1971 in Bangladesh, South Asia. In 1989 he went to Kenya, East Africa, seven years later to Ghana,West Africa. Presently he is assisting Horizon International Schools in designing and developing
curriculum. He graduated from Summit U in 1970 and
in 1990 he complted his Master's education.

Paul Hesman
Consultant
Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, Paul has spent many years working in community development and education in Durban, South Africa. He has lived and worked in the US as an adjunct Proffessor as well. Paul is a passionate educator and strategic thinker and is fluent in English, Afrikaans and Zulu. Paul has a Masters degree from DTS, USA.


Tim Bahula

Tim has served Horizon Education Network as Curriculum Design Officer since 2013. Tim served in Trinidad & Tobago from 2002 until 2009. His passion is to leverage technology to provide high-quality education to students. He studied at Heritage College, SBTS and at TEDS. He is now studying education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.Tim lives in Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Dale Marshfield
Founder & Director
Dr. Dale Marshfield had an interesting journey through the higher education world. He started as a science major at the State University of New York, completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees at a small private college in Pennsylvania. Then during a 26 year stay in South Africa, he completed a degree at the University of South Africa, rounding things off with a Doctorate from University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban-Westville). His teaching experience is equally diverse. He taught at the University level in South Africa (North-West University and University of Durban-Westville), as well as at the community level in one of South Africa’s large Indian townships. Today he divides his time between
providing leadership development training to Dalit people in India, and doing faculty development training in colleges, universities, and public and international schools.
